Teachers who shout for no reason
When I can’t think of any good ideas

Tuck-shop queues
Lunchtime queues

People spreading unkind rumours about me

On the 26th November 2012 an MC came to the Power to the Pupils meeting and showed us ways to make our raps better. He said you can use similes. He helped us with our raps. He shared some of his raps from his latest album, which was good, and encouraged us to share our work more often and not feel shy when working together as a team.

We also made a group rap about heroes and friends. Awaté showed us who would be real heroes in the modern days, like people that work hard for stuff. For example: our mothers, fathers, children, people we look up to - so anybody could be a hero.

We worked as teams of four, writing examples of heroes and shared the things we came up with. We shared our raps that we wrote by ourselves during the week. I really enjoyed the session this week and feel more confident in myself to stand up and join the fun!

A verse for the track ‘Power to the Pupils’ to be recorded and released in 2013!

Guest MC visits Power to the Pupils

Last week, an MC came to our Power to the Pupils meeting and shared a rap that is going on his new album.

He gave us advice about how to make our raps better. He showed us new ways to write raps using similes and rhyme.

His name was Awaté. He told us how he comes up with ideas and looks for words that go well together.

He wrote two verses for our album – ‘Friends’ and ‘Heroes’.

Kaydien told us, “He was really good. I like his rap about friends.”

Lamar added, “He was brilliant when he was rapping. He gave me some ideas for my rap about heroes.”

Members of Power to the Pupils are going to make stamps of heroes and heroines as well. We can bring in photos or we can draw. Margaret-Marie has been thinking about her choice: “I’m going to make one of my Grandpa or my friend.”

We will be making the stamps next term.
